“Expresso”…the new Espresso!

If you have visited The Village Country Club Fitness Center lately you might have noticed a new member to our cardio equipment family, “The Expresso Interactive Cardio Bike”. This new bike is, in our opinion, the cats pajamas!

With this new technology you are able to complete a profile that will save your previous work-outs and will even allow you to race against your previous time via a virtual ‘ghosted’ avatar! One of the most popular features of this new machine is that it allows the rider to connect with their friends and fellow riders in a virtual race…imagine racing your best friend, in real time, talk about healthy motivation!

To get started on your own virtual weight loss ‘tour’ ,  simply create your online profile at http://www.expresso.net/UserPortal/welcome.do .  So go ahead, opt for the healthier way to get more energy, trade in your daily espresso’s for our new Expresso!

Thankful “Thanks”-Giving

A Very Thankful

“Thanks”-Giving.

Leading such hectic lives, we  sometimes lose sight of how much we have to be thankful for. This Thanksgiving season, before the Holiday lights hit the trees and the malls become overcrowded with the bustle of children, their eyes lit up with hopes of the newest toys and games, The Village will start collecting “Toys for Tots” items.

Our hope is that we are able to help a great deal of  families in our community to enjoy a Holiday Season that will be remembered and cherished.  And what better time to start this thankful expression than before Thanksgiving?!

So before you dust off the fine turkey-day china, make your bountiful grocery list or start digging through your recipe books for ‘Grandma’s Gravy Recipe’, please think about the meaning of “Thanks”-Giving and donate to Toys for Tots!

All Village Leasing office’s are now collecting new, unwrapped toys for donation from now until December 6th. As a thank you for helping us boost this great toy-drive, ALL residents whom drop off a toy to their leasing office before December 6th will receive a free pass to The Village Country Club’s Resident Holiday Party on December 12th! FIGHT NIGHT 2011!

Get Your Gloves on Dallas…

Fight Night 2011 is  August 25th!

 Another year, another…fight? Fight Night 2011 is just around the corner. If you have not been to The Village for Fight Night, there is a good chance of one thing; you’re new to Dallas!

Sportsradio station 1310 “The Ticket” has once again partnered with The Village to host one of the biggest “battles” this town has seen since the old western Texas-style shoot outs!

Last year, Fight Night boasted over 3,500 people, dedicated to absorbing a night filled with good food, drinks and of course, epic-match ups,  and this year will be no different!  Come to The Village Country Club on Thursday, August 25th  at 5pm to experience what many call the most entertaining amateur boxing in the wild-wild west!

Dirk vs. Dwayne…..REMATCH!

Dirk Vs. Dwayne; How The Mavs will “put out” The Heat.

If you are an avid sports fan you may know the reason as to why  this year’s NBA playoffs are so intense and if you don’t, well that’s what were here for!

Some are referring to this playoff series as the showdown of the two D’s…Dirk Nowitzki and Dwayne Wade. Both players were with their respective teams in 2006 when they went head-to-head for the championship.

Although neither player is likely to  head-off against each other (Dirk will likely be matched with Lebron), it does make you wonder whether Dirk can be stopped?! He has shown all season that he is a force to be reckoned with! Dallas fans are eager to take the Championship this year and I for one, think they will!

If you are looking for a great spot to watch the Mavs vs. Heat games, be sure to  stop by The Village Country Club!

Eat.Drink. Be….Judging.

Taste of Dallas Vs. Taste of Addison.

Eat. Drink. Eat. Drink. Be…..a judge! Every year the cities of Dallas and Addison’s most impressionable restaurants band together to create a festival worth every last calorie! Over the last 25 years, Taste of Dallas has hosted over 3.5 million visitors while it’s younger counterpoint Taste of Addison is likely to catch up soon! Both festivals boast tremendous food, excellent live music & need I say it….great people watching!

This year the two festivals are spread amongst the Summer month’s offering those who are passionate about great cuisine the opportunity to thoroughly investigate what both cities bring to the….table. Taste of Addison’s 3 day festival is slated for this weekend; May the 20th-22nd, while Taste of Dallas is scheduled to kick off on July 8th!

We suggest that you go to both…but don’t forget to bring cash, sunblock and a hearty appetite for fun and good eatin’.

The Village “Goes Green”

The Village Goes Green!!

Those who choose to live in The Village do so for many different reasons. Some people choose to live in The Village for the location, amenities, organized sports leagues, great parties or some even for the convenience of the DART rail. Then there are those who specifically choose to live in these communities because they know that The Village is amongst few of the communities in this industry who are consciously doing their part to help lessen their carbon footprint. That’s right…every one of the communities that makes up The Village is doing their part to help keep Dallas Green! From a community-wide recycling program to flourescent light bulb recycling to online rent pay to  low-flow sprinkler heads, The Village has been actively taking a stand against wasting our natural resources! The Village has partnered with CWD to provide a recycling program that is convenient and efficient for our residents, and according to CWD in 2010 The Village recycled a total of 234 TONS of trash! But, The Village is hopeful that that number is just a “drop in the bucket” in comparison to the number that 2011 will bring!

2011 Easter Egg Hunt

Birds Are Chirping, Wildflowers are Blooming & The Easter Bunny is Finalizing His Route..

Each year, Spring-time  seems to pop-up somewhere between “I’ve Almost Got a Hold on this New Year’s Resolution” and “Pool Season is Almost Over”.  Ask any adult and they will tell you that with each new year, time seems to quite literally fly by! No more are the days of counting the clock-hands until the next recess or making a paper chain to tear-off a link each day until Summer-freedom finally begins!

This year is no different; Spring is already in full-swing. The air is crisp, wildflowers are blooming and The Easter Bunny’s grand entrance is only two weeks away.  If you have been searching for chocolate covered bunnies, jelly beans & plastic eggs, no need to worry, The Village has you covered. The Easter Egg hunt in The Village was started 14 years ago and has since developed into a grandiose Spring Festival complete with face painting, balloon artists, obstacle course, children’s DJ,  prizes, concessions & of course, an egg hunt! The day is sure to be jam-packed with fun, food and even a couple of golden eggs!

Easter Egg Hunt & Festival Info:

When:  Friday, April 22nd. 2:30pm-5pm (the first egg hunt will start @ 3:30pm!)

Where:  The Village Country Club | 8308 Southwestern Boulevard | Dallas, TX 75206

Reminders:
  • Please remember to bring your own basket & enter at the front entrance of the VCC.
  • Village residents will receive 10 free tickets per child, per valid membership card*.
  • Children 10yrs or younger are welcome to participate in the egg hunt.
  • Without a Village membership card there will be a $5.00 entry fee per child and a charge of $1.00 per ticket.
  • Tickets are required for all festival activities

*limit 3 children per card
